We stayed at Kawaguchiko Hotel for two nights this April and really liked it. We picked the Japanese-style tatami room and it was spacious and the futon was comfortable. Our room faced Lake Kawaguchi directly and there was even a side window with a view of Mt. Fuji. We also had the breakfast and it was a hearty and healthy meal. They served shabu shabu with thin slices of beef and soft tofu, plus fish, salad, egg, tomato, cheese, rice, more beef, green tea, and fresh fruits. You just need to let the front desk know your preferred time, 7:30, 8:00, or 8:30. The hotel is around 16-min walk from the train station. But they have a free shuttle to and from the station running from 8 to 10am every 30 minutes. On our last day, we had to catch a 7am train and it was cold so I asked if there was any chance of a shuttle earlier. The younger staff looked unsure but then an older gentleman (I believe his name is Riyoshita-san) said yes, he’d take us. Sure enough, he was there early the next morning, drove us to the station and even offered to take our photo because Mt. Fuji was perfectly clear that day. It was such a sweet gesture and really made our morning. Highly recommend this hotel. It was peaceful, the food was great, and the service (especially Riyoshita-san, thank you!) really went above and beyond.

The hotel was very well situated along the shores of the lake and in walking distance to the railway station and the center of town. Plenty of places to eat nearby and lovel to stroll around the lake itself. Staff were wonderful and very, very helpful. A joy! We booked a traditional Japanese room and loved it, but not recommended if you cannot get up from a mattress on the floor! The room was spacious and clean, but it was dated and could use some refurbishment as the wooden shutters struggled in their tracks and the varnish had disappeared from most of the wooden items. Although not a crisis, we also struggled for power points near the bed and had to leave phones charging away from the bed - an extension cord would help. Bathroom was a decent size and had lots of hot water. We did not use the onsen located on the top floor and did not book hotel breakfasts. We ate breakfast 150m down the road at Le Pain de Daniel, a wonderful bakery run by a French chef. Highly recommended All in all, would I stay there again. Yes! Good value with a great location.

Great location on the lake that makes it easy to walk and find places to eat. There are also a handful of lake activities nearby too. The staff were helpful and friendly, and the shuttle to and from the station was hassle free. The hotel is massive on the inside. Highly recommend reservations for the breakfast. Both days were delicious and the meals were different. Make sure to try out the onsen that has a view of Mt. Fuji through the glass. And head up to the observation deck for more photos. There are a few areas throughout the hotel to lounge and play games with friends and family. The bedroom was nice and spacious for 2 people. And the bathroom was large too (compared to other hotels I stayed at during my trip). They offer robes and slippers to wear to and from the onsen. We stayed in the western style room. Though we peeked in one of the traditional rooms that were being made up by staff and I have to say, take the opportunity to try it out. If I ever get back to Mt. Fuji, I want to try out that room next time for the experience.

The hotel is perfectly preserved with its retro style interior and beautiful natural spring bath, making us feel like we were turned back in time - It was beautiful. The staff were exceptional; the manager at the front desk was so helpful with forwarding our luggage and had excellent English, tending to any request we had. Free coffee available at the reception was delicious! The onsen and observatory were fantastic and both have a Mt Fuji view if you wish to relax on a clear day and admire the beauty. The hotel is perfectly located on the edge of the lake if you wish to go for a walk or rent a bike. Thank you to all staff at the Kawaguchiko hotel, it has been our favourite part of our trip.

The staff were so friendly and kind- very welcoming and always ready to help with any questions. The breakfast was traditional Japanese and delicious! The onsen was to die for- we had a view of Mt Fuji from the onsen. My room window also looked out into Mt Fuji so I was very lucky. The location was perfect- right on the lake. It was a lovely old fashioned guesthouse type hotel- emphasis on the staff . It has been modernised in the public areas- the bedroom was a little shabby but I didn’t mind that because of the view. They also had Japanese style tatami mat rooms overlooking the lake.
